Unlike black or green tea it contains no caffeine at all, which makes it suitable for any time of day. This is not cut leaf tea but finely milled powder – it blends fully into the drink or the recipe and needs no straining.

Put roughly 2 g of powder (one level teaspoon) into a shaker, add about 300 ml of water and shake. Hot preparation: use water up to 70 °C. Cold preparation: cold water and ice cubes – rooibos is genuinely refreshing that way. It can be sweetened with fruit juice or syrup as required.
