Matcha 2026 after harvest:
prices +150%. Ours 0%.

Dear business partners,

I am writing to you directly from Japan, where intensive meetings with farmers, tencha producers and matcha manufacturers are currently taking place following the 2026 harvest. The market situation is exceptionally dynamic, and I believe it is important that you receive the latest information directly from the source.

What is currently happening on the matcha market

Following this year’s harvest, wholesale matcha prices in Japan have increased significantly once again. In some segments, we are seeing year-on-year price increases of up to 150%.

The main reasons behind this development are:

  • rapidly growing global demand for matcha across the USA, Europe and Southeast Asia,
  • limited production capacity for tencha and traditional stone grinding,
  • strong pressure on Japanese farmers and ongoing shortages of high-quality raw material,
  • growing demand from retail, cafés and private label brands.

Many European importers have already started increasing their prices accordingly.

At Kyosun, we are not changing your prices at this time.

Thanks to our long-term relationships with Japanese partners, stable contracts and secured inventory from the current harvest, we are maintaining existing wholesale conditions for our B2B partners. Our goal is to provide stability and allow you to plan the coming months without sudden repricing.

Why we are keeping prices stable

We understand how important stable purchasing prices are for our partners. They allow you to plan margins, marketing campaigns, retail listings and long-term contracts with confidence.

At the same time, our quality standards remain unchanged:

  • premium Japanese matcha,
  • 200+ laboratory tests,
  • Organic and FSC certifications,
  • the same packaging and weight formats,
  • quality control of every production batch.

Our recommendation for Q2 and Q3 2026

The European matcha market continues to grow at a very fast pace. Combined with limited production capacity in Japan, we expect continued pressure on both prices and availability.

If you are planning larger volumes or expanding your assortment, we recommend securing your Q2 and Q3 2026 orders as early as possible under the current conditions and available inventory.
